Lentils are edible seeds from the legumes family. They come in different sizes and colors. They are more popular in Asian and North African cuisines but the greatest production is now in Canada.

That may not be an actual saying but it rings true nonetheless. Oatmeal is considered among the healthiest grains on earth. From providing the energy we need, to weight loss and for the purpose of this post, to lower bad cholesterol. So today I’ll be sharing my recommendations for oatmeal breakfast ideas to lower cholesterol.

This all started because I have been diagnosed with high LDL cholesterol so I have been researching different food and recipes that I could start eating to help me combat this bad cholesterol. So far, I’ve done a post on different green smoothies and I must say that they are awesome! So now it’s time for breakfast.

Why breakfast you might ask? Its only the most important meal of the day!

1. Overnight Oatmeal

Yum, yum! Anyone who loves oatmeal will love this. Think about combining your favorite toppings in a mason jar of oats and leaving it in the refrigerator overnight. You can make this for work or school the next day.

Cookies have never been healthier! These oatmeal breakfast treats are bound to be a hit in the mornings. Pack them in the lunch bag or have them with your green tea. These are a delight!

In case you’re wondering, like I was, “peanut butter? Isn’t that bad for cholesterol?” Turns out, no. Bad cholesterol only comes from animal products but while plant based products contains fat, these are not harmful to your heart. In fact, nut butters in general contains a lot of nutrients and no cholesterol!

3. Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

This is one of my personal favs! I start the day with a glass of banana oatmeal shake. Always a very quick and easy way to get the required nutrients that you need to start the day.

This recipe adds a bit of extra flavor to your bowl of morning oats. You can have our porridge (or oatmeal) plain if you want but if you like an additional bit of flavor (like me), you will love this.

Some time ago I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and man how it shocked me. So as a result, I decided to change my ways and change my life. I scoured the internet and found these 5 smoothies to lower cholesterol. They are very easy to make and very delicious. I certainly hope that you will love them.

Our diet is very critical when it comes to reducing our cholesterol. Therefore, we must change the way we eat if we hope to see any results.

That being said, let’s get into some recipes for smoothies to lower Cholesterol (LDL).

1. Daily Green Smoothie

This is perfect for you! It requires a small amount of each ingredient and is very easy to make. The measurements are not standard though but you can be generous with your serving.

2. Lower Your Cholesterol Naturally

Excellent recipe here! She begins to speak about the recipe at the 2:35 mark but you can watch her intro if you want. Similar ingredients to the first video so it shouldn’t be a problem.

  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 orange
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1tsp flaxseed
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups of water or coconut water
  • (Optional) 1 Cup frozen pineapple

3. 5 Healthy Green Smoothie Recipes

The Domestic Geek makes excellent videos with clear instructions but not all would achieve our goal of lowering that LDL cholesterol. As such, we will focus on the green smoothies. Here is 5 of her choices and trust me, they’re good!

4. Avocado and Coconut Refresher Smoothie

Only 3 ingredients! This is so simple to make and very good for your heart. Not a lot of people believe coconut is good for your health because of the saturated fat content but studies have shown otherwise. So feel free to enjoy this healthy smoothie anytime.
